Earlier, we used to spend a lot of money on chatting with our friends and relatives. But chatting is made quite easier and affordable due to various online chatting applications. We can use it for our profession as well as personal use. But when our children use these platforms, they only use it only for recreational purposes. 

Parents are fed up because children as they spend the entire day chatting with their friends. When parents ask them to show their phone and text messages, they quickly delete their recent conversations. Let us discuss some dangers of chatting applications on children.

1. Wastage of Time

Most teens are addicted to their mobile phones. They love spending time using different social media accounts. They are attracted to these online chatting applications as most of their friends do use them. A study has shown that on average, children spend 2-3 hours on chatting applications regularly. The conversation they have on these applications is not at all worthy and useful.

2. Degrades Their Health

Teenage is a period where the body is in its final stage of growth. They need to perform physical activities to keep their body fit and growing. But nowadays, children are spending more time with their mobile phones on these chatting applications. This is the reason why they do not prefer stepping out of their house. This may make their muscles and bones weak.

Also, their body might not grow with the momentum. Apart from that, their eyesight may also get degraded at an early stage of life. Thus, to avoid these negative health consequences, parents must insist on their children start some physical activities.

3. Abusive Content

You may have taught good manners and morals to your children. But the people around them may spoil them. Teenagers can learn vulgar language and different bad habits through these online chatting applications. If the people they are chatting with are not well-mannered, they will have a bad influence on your child.

Moreover, there are many cases where legal action is taken against teenagers due to some sort of abusive content on these chatting platforms. Therefore, chatting for a long time and bad people can introduce your child to abusive content.

4. Causes of Addiction

As discussed above, many teens are addicted to their phones. The usage of their mobile phones and replies to text messages are given priority. Many of the children also take their mobile phones to school and use them during their lectures.

This is because they are addicted to devices and social media applications. You must control the usage of mobile phones by your children before it becomes an addiction. They must be taught that online chatting platforms are for recreational purposes. If they are used in a productive manner, they become a great source of communication and sharing thoughts or views.

It’s a normal thing if you’re worried about your kid’s screen time. Find a balance between spending time online and in real life. This will help your youngsters get more active and improve their health and overall well-being. It may be quite challenging at first, but this is done to keep our younger generation in a good state.
